El Qa`oud ... got cleaned
El Qa’oud Mountain is located to the north west of the airport. By location, it acts like a natural windbreak – this helps the nearby desert and mountainous environments by collecting the empty plastic bags.
Saturday - 9th of February 2008, was marked on the City Hall’s calendar as an Environment Day. The task of cleaning El Qa’oud was assigned to that date.

Cleaning up El Qa’oud Mountain area from the naturally collected empty bags

174 workers from 34 hotels and resorts working in Sharm El Sheikh

*The Event:
Started at 9:00 am with the City Mayor speech
A speech by the president of the Egyptian Hotel Association
Teaming the volunteers into groups
Start the cleaning process up the mountain and going down side
Total of 200 full garbage bags were collected at the end of the day
*Recommendations:
Repeat the cleaning day on monthly bases and expand it to reach other places of the city to encourage the environment friendly attitude among the citizens and the workers of the city.
